July 19, 2008 Las Vegas/Anaheim Tonight was a huge night for Mixed Martial Arts. The UFC and the new promotion, Affliction held events tonight. Ben Rothwell fought in Affliction tonight as he took on Andrei Arlovski. Rothwell lost in the third round via TKO. The Ultimate Fight Night saw three Iowan fighters, including two making their UFC debut. Kevin Burns won his second career UFC fight tonight, but not after some controversy. Burns won via TKO in the third round, but it was an eye poke to Anthony Johnson that ended the fight. Miletich fighter Rory Markham won in his debut tonight as he defeated Brodie Farber via knockout in the first round. Markham landed a head kick, knocking out Farber. James Giboo also made his debut tonight, but came out on the losing end, Giboo lost in the second round by TKO. |
